In December 2020, The Fondation d’Augustin facilitated the donation of 380 kg of baby formula by NESTLE Côte d'Ivoire to the Centre Pietro Bonilli d´Odienné. We have been supporting the Centre for more than 3 years, and we also donate to them childcare materials and equipment, as well as toys for the orphans.
Thanks to the 2020 edition of ‘Christmas for all’, LFA and Father Christmas distributed 1,014 gifts to 3 schools in the District of Abidjan and to the Pediatric Nephrology Unit. Fortunately, we were able to distribute almost as many gifts as 2019, when we distributed 1,066 gifts for Christmas.
The Fondation d’Augustin, in collaboration with the Polyclinique Internationale Sainte Anne Marie, has made available to the Lycée Moderne of Dimbokro a room equipped with musical instruments. These include a piano synthesizer, drums, microphone kits for drums, electric acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mixer, amplifier, PA combo, and loudspeaker. These instruments and equipment will allow the learning and practice of music, and contribute to the well-being and development of more than 6,000 students.
For the fourth consecutive year, LFA was able to supply school kits to children. In 2020 LFA donated 3,560 school kits and 609 teaching manuals. Our efforts have increased from 2019: we donated 143 more kits in 2020 (a 4.18% increase from the previous year) and 291 more teaching manuals (a 91.5% increase from 2019). More than 2,600 kits and 300 textbooks were distributed to children identified as vulnerable in the regions of Iffou, Bélier, Hambol and in the Autonomous District of Abidjan. This initiative reached more than 2,500 families.
During 2020, LFA donated food and essential items to several community groups, organizations and institutions including: the Orphanage Les Maisons Bethesda of Toumodi, the Training Education Center and Integration of the Blind in Toumodi (CEFIAT), the victims of the Toumodi market attack, the Casa Del Sole orphanage in Tabou, and the canteen of the primary school Le Petit Baobab. Donations of food included: more than 700 kg of rice, more than 400 l of cooking oil, more than 400 kg of pasta, tins of canned tomatoes, and cans of sardines. Donations of essential items included: clothing, shoes for children and adults, disposable diapers for babies, and toys.
In July 2020, LFA continued its enrichment of libraries, multimedia libraries, and Documentation and Information Centers (CDI) in schools and communities. Nearly 700 books (literary works and textbooks) were collected from individuals and publishing houses and distributed to the Attecoubé Multimedia Library, the Treichville Multimedia Library, the Public Primary School of Danga, CDI of the Lycée Moderne of Dimbokro school, and the mobile community library "Le Grenier des Enfants".
In March 2020, LFA supported Actuelle Magazine in its campaign "Awareness of Menstrual Hygiene Management in schools". We distributed more than 4,600 sanitary napkins to 26 young girls in school.
On October 05, 2020, the Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Forests, planted more than 80 trees at the private* primary school Le Petit Baobab.
*Private schools refer to non-state funded schools and includes community and denominational schools.
On October 13, 2020, the Foundation launched "School Kits For All 2020". Nearly 800 school kits and 162 teaching manuals have so far been distributed to vulnerable children in several public and private primary schools in Abidjan and Katiola. In the coming weeks, more than 3,500 school kits and 276 teaching manuals will be distributed.
On September 17, 2020, the Foundation made a donation of food and non-food items to the "Soeur Camilla Casa Del Sole" orphanage in Tabou. The orphanage cares for about 15 children. Donations included a hand basin, bars of soap, reusable masks, cans of hydroalcoholic gel, clothes, boxes of powdered milk and condensed milk, as well as diapers for babies and for children under 2 years old.
